My works have been shown over many years in numerous solo and selected group exhibitions winning commendations and prizes. They are enjoyed by people in private and public places My favourite inspiration has always been the Australian Landscape, rugged, sparse, sun drenched, seasoned by drought and fire it invites and challenges the artist. Travelling to paint I have captured the images from Cape Tribulation to Kangaroo Island and from the Kimberley to Central Australia. But whatever inspires me at the moment, be it a well chosen bouquet of flowers, a garden or urban setting, I look to the subject to give me inspiration and to stay in my own way, true to its image. But artists must dream and sometimes paint their dreams. I am an artist and I am allowed to dream. Share my art and enjoy.
Erika Beck FRAS – Artist and Art Tutor
Artist and Art Tutor Erika Beck has developed a strong reputation for her creativity, experimentation and integrity as an artist working predominantly with gestural abstraction for over 30 years.
Preparing for her 18. solo exhibition she exhibited her work in many selected group exhibitions in Australia as well as internationally in Zagreb and Barcelona. Erika studied with many prominent artists such as Orban, Milgate, Woodward, Pugh, Zusters. Foye, undertaking numerous painting tours to the Kimberley, Fraser Island, Central Australia and many other iconic regions seeking inspiration from the unique light, quality and beauty of the Australian landscape.
Erika’s work is vibrantly expressive and contemporary. Her landscape paintings reflect her fascination with the light, the silence and the timelessness of the Australia’s landscape. Her figurative and still-life paintings explore the human form, objects interiors and places. The appeal of her paintings, no doubt, stems from their sheer beauty and energy.
Erika has won numerous prizes and awards for her work. In 2018 Erika was awarded the prestigious Royal Art Society ‘Medal of Distinction’ judged by Artist Bela Ivanyi. She has been selected as a finalist for the Mosman Art Prize in 2017 and other selected exhibitions over the years.
In 2015 Erika’s work was shown by the Mosman Art Gallery ‘In Profile’ with the title ‘Forces of Nature’.
