Diana Hallowes – Artist Profile
Diana Hallowes works in watercolour and mixed media. Born in South Africa, she moved to Sydney in 1986 and was managing editor of Australian Artist magazine for four years.
She subsequently studied watercolour, landscape painting, portraiture and experimental techniques with well-known Sydney teachers. She participated in group, solo and public exhibitions.
Diana has travelled extensively. She spent four years in Toronto, Canada, where she worked in water media at the Toronto School of Art with Tina Poplawski, finding the active art scene in Toronto stimulating and taking part in group and solo shows.
Back in Sydney, she had two solo exhibitions with Gallery Oscar at their premises in Pymble, and continued to be represented by them.
She spent five years in London, returning at the end of 2009. During that time she had work accepted to the Royal Watercolour Society open exhibition and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour annual exhibition in Mall Galleries.
Her awards include Lane Cove Art Society’s Lloyd Rees Award 2008, First prize for watercolour at KAS Awards 2010 and First prize for drawing at KAS awards 2015.
Diana is also a member of Lane Cove Art Society. In 2017 she was awarded a Lane Cove Council Citizenship Award for services to music and the arts.
Her works hang in many private collections in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and UK.
