Our General Meeting Guest Speaker on Tuesday 5th July was Calligraphy and Lettering Specialist – Barbara Enright.
We have not had this Art Skill represented in the Society, Barbara’s presentation was truly enjoyable and fascinating as she outlined her life experience from early days as a “Ticketing Artist” for large department stores in the 60’s.
By contrast, Barbara has recently conducted classic practical hands on (using a paint brush) sign writing courses for Universities in Australia and overseas for media art students that had only ever dealt with a keyboard, a screen and a printer.
Barbara hand painted each of our names on a white card in varying scripts.
Barbara shared a You Tube video made recently to highlight the value of these older Artistic Skills.
