St Ives Shopping Centre, 29 October -10 November 2013
Our long awaited Exhibition opened on Tuesday 29 October in our new home on the pedestrian ramp thanks to our wonderful hosts in St Ives Shopping Village, our partners in establishing The Gallery. Ku-ring-gai Council have also contributed a significant Arts and Cultural Grant of $5000 as well as a further sponsorship of $2000 towards prizes. The Selection panel noted paintings submitted were of higher standard with particular praise for the high standard of framing. The whole of the exhibition was hung with professional assistance to minimise the safety issues of hanging on a ramp.
Opening night on Friday 1 November was well attended in great splendour with all prize winners in attendance. (See Photo on Front Page) The Exhibition Awards Night was well attended with over 240 people, many representatives of our supporting sponsors and our many friends. The exhibition was formally opened by Jonathon Odea MP, our local State Member of Parliament. Also in attendance was our former guest speaker Paul Fletcher MP who presented the Bradfield Prize for a painting by Suzanne Lane. Ku-ring-gai Council was represented by Councillor Cheryl Szatow JP who presented the Silver Jubilee Trophy and The Spirit of Ku-ring-gai Awards. Ed Gomes from the Gomes Family, gave a short speech, presented the pastel prizes. as long supporters of the Society in memory of former President, Ann Gomes, The major awards were presented by our Patron and Guest Speaker, Lou Klepac who shared a great story on his observations of the art world. Fellow Patron Meg Stewart presented with Chris Williamson of the Bendigo Bank the Grand Prize to Lyn Matthews for ‘The Blue Teapot’.

Our judges, Lesley O’Shea and Joe Penn said “We would like to congratulate everyone on the superb way the exhibition is presented and organised. It is a tribute to many talented and hardworking artists to see such a collection of works that are of a consistently high standard. This exhibition has been a pleasure to judge and we would like to thank the Committee for giving us the honour of judging.”
Prize winning paintings, which had not sold were invited and hung at the Ku-ring-gai Council Foyer from the 13 November till 28 February.

Congratulations To every member who proudly submitted their work, to all the prize-winners and special thanks to everyone who contributed their time in organisation and support. Special Thanks to our Committee and Exhibition Team particularly Malcolm Carver, Robyne Berling. Brian Freer, Suzanne Lane, Caroline Oesterheld, Jan Harrington Johnson, and Doug Meares who all made it actually happen in reality with the St Ives Centre.
Thank you to each and every sponsor for without your generosity, our exhibition could not have provided the enjoyment and success to the community as a whole. The exhibition closed on the 10 November with great success having sold 71 paintings. Each member should be proud of our joint achieve.

Raffle etc
The Viewers’ Choice Prize was won by Linda Joyce with the painting titled ’58 FC Aussie Classic’.
Congratulations also go to Suzanne Lane, winner of the Member for Bradfield’s Prize, whose painting was featured on the Paul Fletcher MP Christmas card.
RAFFLE PRIZE The winner was Anne Arneman, West Pymble.
Viewers Choice Award The viewer winner was Steve Joyce.
