PAINTING FIGURES IN THE SUNLIGHT.
Note: Acrylic painters would gain benefit from this workshop.
Workshop Outline
Using my easy to understand method of getting the subject onto the board, painting figures and animals are no harder than any other subject. ….. The subject photograph supplied will have all the answers, come and see how easy it is to interpret a photograph and make into a painting.

The workshop will cover coming to grips with colour mixing.
How to recognise and judge tone.
How to simplify even the most complicated drawings.
The importance of good lighting on the subject.
Making the best use of composition.
Plenty of handouts, individual attention, and an uncomplicated approach to painting that will make ANY subject not only possible, but easy. Come and join me to paint some sunlight.
Required Materials
Art Spectrum Oil Paints
Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Lemon Yellow, Golden Yellow, Light Red, Alizarin Crimson (or Permanent Crimson), Spectrum Red & Titanium White
All the above colours can be substituted for other brands if necessary, but to obtain my colour mixes, try to use the Art Spectrum brand. The Light Red and Lemon Yellow should be Art Spectrum.
Brushes: size 2,4,8 long flats
Mediums: Art Spectrum Lean Medium is a good one. Low odour turps for washing brushes
Canvas: Either canvas on stretcher or loose Tara 70 canvas taped to a support board . – Please bring two canvases. 18 x 15 inch is good, but smaller or larger would also be fine.
Other: Notebook, pen, willow charcoal, paper, cloth for wiping brushes, tin or jar for brush washing.
Standing easel if possible.

Ros Psakis is five times overall winner of the Art of Sydney Award, she has numerous other awards including twelve times Award of Excellence at St.George Art Society and is a Life member of the St.George Art Society. Ros tutors twice yearly at the Mitchell School of Arts Bathurst, and at Art in Action at Kurrajong. In addition she holds a weekly class in the St.George area at Ramsgate and conducts demonstrations and workshops at various Art Groups. Ros has paintings in collections both here in Australia and overseas.
Her continuing lessons come from Nature herself. Learning to paint is an ongoing journey. And what a wonderful and exciting journey it is.
