This is an acrylic workshop designed to gain knowledge and experimentation with acrylics and its mediums, to create a landscape with transparency and space. With attention given to composition, major shapes and looking for the rhythm in the landscape.
As a child the direct experience of the Australian bush left a lasting impression. Living in the city I believe has always drawn me towards painting the Australian Bush. I found it welcomed change from suburbia.
Landscape has been a major preoccupation in my practice for many years now. Following in the landscape tradition of plein air artist such as Constable, Streeton, Roberts & more recently Boyd, Williams & Euan Macleod.
Plein air painting gives me the visual relationship to light, shape & space. Trying to achieve a gentle balance between detail & gesture, moments of focus give way to passages of tone & colour, where bold brush strokes break through layered glazes, drips & runs in the paint to form an integral part of the final composition.
