Art Gallery Visit
We had a Coach Trip to the Wollongong Art Gallery on Tuesday April 18th, 2017
A great day out to visit the Wollongong Art Gallery and to wander the Wollongong CBD in search of street art was enjoyed by 27 KAS members and friends.
Morning coffee at “The Social “was very welcome on arrival prior to an hours guided tour of the Art Gallery by volunteer guides Carol and Judy.
Permanent collections, new acquisitions, aboriginal and contemporary exhibitions including John Papac’s intricate carvings on white beech and the “Frugal Forest”, an installation of recycled materials turned into
a fascinating tropical forest, were enjoyed by all.
Everyone then spread out and wandered the CBD to locate the sometimes massive and many smaller elusive art works that adorned the walls of buildings and alleyways.
Good company, beautiful weather and safe travel saw us all back by 5.30pm with Janny Drayer having the lucky number and winning the wine.
Thanks, everyone for coming and contributing to a fun day out.
Charmaine Phillips.
We visited the Wollongong Art Gallery and also saw all the street art that was painted at the 2016 Wonderwalls Festival in 2016. www.wonderwallsfestival.com Wollongong.
The coach made it safely to Wollongong and return, those lucky enough to be seated on the top deck enjoyed the views and the fresh air.
Guided Tour
A private one hour guided tour of the Art Gallery was booked for 2 groups.
Lunch
A gourmet champagne lunch with canapes was enjoyed by all.
