Closing Address for 53rd Awards Ceremony.
Congratulations and thanks to all our winners and to every artist who has entered this wonderful Exhibition. The standard is second to none. In future we encourage all exhibiting members to enter a minimum of 2 exhibitions per year as this not only gives the artist more exposure, it benefits the society by making the exhibition more diverse and interesting and spreads the load across the roster system.
We sincerely thank our Special guests who have so generously given their time and support to make this such a memorable occasion.
To all our sponsors whose generosity and support is greatly appreciated, we thank you most sincerely. Thanks go to David Southwell the SIVSC Concierge, his staff and Deli Hub for catering this evenings event. The canapes were delicious.
My thanks go all the wonderful dedicated non-committee members of KAS who take on support roles and work hard in the many areas that are required to keep our Society running smoothly.
On a personal note I have thoroughly enjoyed being President of such a great team over the past (almost) 3 years and will be handing over this role at the next AGM to one of our Vice Presidents Liz Harriott who has put her name up for nomination and if elected will be your MC next year.
There is a group of better halves ( or other halves ) who are not Members but are always on board to support their husbands and wives who are, and to help where ever needed. We are always extremely grateful for their willing input, energy, muscles, height and IT knowledge to name a few attributes.
Helen Hammersley, David’s wife is always there to assist David, and Eric Hahn is a great support to Daria our Selection Manager and assisted the team this year by lifting all 300 paintings on to the easel for their perusal.
Peter Macrossin and Les Smoker have assisted with the hanging. Geoff Graham also helps but this exhibition he has away so now he has been relegated to the bar!
Last in this group and by no means least I want to thank my wonderful Husband John who is and has always been my biggest fan and constant supporter in all my endeavours. He was responsible for my taking on the Presidency and for introducing KAS to the mysterious IT world of “the Cloud “where we now all work across Google sheets which make life easier though sometimes more challenging. Thankyou John for all the help that you offer so patiently to all my friends and to me in spite of your busy work load and my lack of IT comprehension!!
Finally and most especially I sincerely thank the following people and those on the Committee who constitute the core of the team that put this amazing exhibition together and I would like them to join me here so we can all thank them for the huge effort and amazing job they have done.
Robyne Berling our Exhibition Manager who once again has curated an amazing Exhibition. This year has been particularly challenging for Robyne as she has had to master new skills to create all the catalogues and certificates. She has also has assisted Adam Ventress in photographing and revamping the format to produce the presentation slides that you see on the screen.
Suzanne Lane, Robyne’s trusty assistant who is and has always been an invaluable help with organising the Exhibitions.
KAS Secretary and power woman Jan HJ who works full time , dots all the Ts and crosses all the I’s. and does a fabulous job as secretary.
Thomasin Graham my voice of reason and VP, Liz Harriott our second VP who unless contested will take the reins from me next year. Thomi and Liz have contacted and organised all the Sponsorship.
Bryan Freer Our web manager and Collator/co-ordinator of entries for the Catalogue…for each Exhibition.
David Hammersley our Property Manager who apart from organising the grog puts up all the banners around the area and with the help of Geoff Buckle lights the Exhibition.
Caroline Oesterheld our Treasurer who keeps us honest and the finances in place.
Lana-leigh Lombard who is our Graphic designer and produces our Monthly Newsletter as well as assisting with Publicity.
Susan Smart who is our Minutes Secretary and is always on hand to help where-ever needed.
Daria Hahn our Selection Manager whose keen eye, and diplomatic ways can encourage many Social Members to persist in becoming Exhibiting Artists.
Kobie Bosch who organises the Roster for all 3 Exhibitions and
Cathy Shugg who manages all our Social Media in spite of travelling constantly.
Maurice Kelly who has taken all the photographs this evening.
Thank you all once again for coming and continue to enjoy the Exhibition. See you all again next year.
Charmaine Phillips
