Sadly we had to cancel the planned Awards Exhibition in July and now the October Spring Exhibition due to NSW COVID restrictions.
Again, thank you to all Members that prepared and entered their Awards Artworks, and to the many KAS volunteers who had prepared for the Awards exhibition to happen in July.
Everything was prepared ready to go.. the rosters, the lighting, the catalogue, the artwork labels, the intake team, the hanging team, the Judges, the St Ives village management and staff, and our Sponsors.
We received a record number of Entrants, over 100, and a record number of Artworks, over 300!
Our KAS President, Liz Harriott has communicated the following to all members:
Message from The President September 2021
Message from The KAS President and The Committee September 2021.
Dear Members,
We thought that last year was challenging but this year we think has been more difficult for the Ku-ring-gai Art Society. It has been frustrating for the committee trying to organise the usual events and then having to cancel them at the last minute.
It is lucky that we were able to have the Autumn Exhibition in March and have a couple of General Meetings with Guest Speakers.
It is with great regret that we will not be able to have an exhibition this October. The current timing of the possible release from lockdown is just to close to our planned exhibition dates. As we can not guarantee a release date, it is difficult to ask those members who do so much preparation for our exhibitions to go ahead.
We were very happy to be able to organise The Member for Bradfield prize with The Honorable Paul Fletcher.
Congratulations to Nina Paine who won with the painting “Mist over Bobbin Head” .
We are hoping that in December we may be able to have an End of Year Party, we will keep you informed.
In 2022 we will reduce Membership Fees for current members to $5.00. ( We will advise you by email how to activate this limited time renewal concession in early January.)
I would like to particularly thank the committee who have continued working via Zoom and emails to make sure that everything continues to run smoothly. I would also like to thank the subcommittee members who have helped with the exhibitions, the website and workshops.
In 2022 we look forward to and plan on returning to General Meetings at Turramurra Masonic Hall in February. We will let you know how this will be run closer to the date. We have an interesting group of Guest Speakers arranged for the year. We will also continue with an exciting offer of workshops.
Wishing you all the very best,
Liz Harriott and The Ku-ring-gai Art Society Committee.
